Is it me or the word Selfie sounds a lot like Selfish, anyway social media has brought so many great things to us, the Selfie is one of them, in fact the Selfie can claim the number 1 spot for the the most widely used 'thing" on social media. The Selfie is such a great invention that cell phone companies are considering it when creating new phones. Some say taking a Selfie is narcissistic, there are some valid points to this argument, such as; it is a lonely act for people who live on-line. I tend to disagree with some parts though.
Have you ever asked a friend at a party to take a picture of you and received a blurry, disgusting, milky thing that doesn't even show your good side (Picture) or better yet have someone take pictures of you looking your best and never share them with you. I think the Selfie is a stand against haters, people who will never praise your make-up, beautiful eyes, hair-style etc. It is men and women taking charge of how they want to be portrayed on-line, the Selfie allows you the opportunity to put out your best picture. Gone are the day of ugly pictures of people looking weird and stoned, with the help of the Selfie today looking good is a choice, at least on-line. The Selfie is a modern day self portrait. B.S.
