Black is cool, sounds a little racist doesn't it, but this the one thing that most white people seem to be comfortable accepting about black people, I have seen no protests over this statement. I recently came across a cover of the ebony magazines with President Barack Obama on the cover, now that brother is the poster boy of being cool, it's in the confidence of everything he does, few can claim that kind of cool. The cool I'm talking about is the fresh kicks, latest gadget kinda cool, that our white counter parts seem uninterested in.
Black is cool, so the question remains why are white people comfortable with that fact. Usually they are very competitive and refuse to be outdone any other race, take the Karate kid for instance we all know Asians invented Karate but NO, white people wanted in on the action, to the point of trying to make us believe that the wimpy white kid became the best Karate fighter after a few lessons with Mr Miyake that's how competitive they are. So the question still remains, why are they not competing for the cool factor.
The truth of the matter is that being cool does not pay, it costs money, it costs a lot of money, especially today, one needs to have the latest gadgets, coolest brands of clothing etc. My nephew recently asked me to buy him "a fresh pair of Jordan's", now I had to think about it for a bit. Yes Jordan's are cool and I'm sure he'll be the envy of his friends, being me, I started thinking about who is the real beneficiary of this cool business and quickly realized that most if not all cool stuff make other races wealthy except blacks. So this brings me to one conclusion that the reason why white people are comfortable with letting blacks own the cool factor is because it makes them rich. Next time you want to brag about your cool kicks or gadget think about who is your money going to? #GetCheesy
Note: If you change nothing at least make sure what you buy comes in black.
